Latest news release from NOW - New York State:
Apparently Hillary Clinton hasn't been roughed up enough by the press. So the media’s sexist drums continue to beat. Recently Tonight Show host Jay Leno quipped that Senator Hillary Clinton would offer Obama a lap dance in exchange for the Vice Presidency.
On Monday of this week, Rep. Dennis Kucinich introduced legislation to impeach George W. Bush for high crimes and misdemeanors. In a 35-count indictment, the Congressman from Ohio charged Bush with misleading Congress and the American people into war by scaring the daylights out of them with false propaganda about weapons of mass destruction.
The House of Representatives, of course, voted to impeach Bill Clinton for having consensual sex with an White House intern, but apparently there is no chance in hell that House members will support Kucinich in his attempt to hold Bush accountable for real crimes. And even sadder, most Americans don't seem to care.
It took Kucinich four-hours to detail his 35-count indictment. Here's some of what he said:
All work and no play makes people dull. What better reason to end up at the Constellation Brands-Marvin Sands Performing Arts Center (CMAC) in Canandaigua on Saturday night to see Robert Plant (Led Zeppelin frontman and legendary rocker) and Alison Kraus (bluegrass superstar).
Duet albums are popular, and Plant and Kraus have recently teamed up to record one. It's called "Raising Sand," and it's excellent. So was the concert.
Police have questioned anti-abortion protestors about the attacks on State Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins' office in Yonkers. The protestors have targeted Cousins because of her sponsorship of the Reproductive Health Act, proposed legislation which would update the state's abortion laws. Local anti-abortion activist Jessica Shanahan denied to the NY Times that her group, New Yorkers for Parental Rights, was involved in the violence.
State Legislators held a press conference in Albany on May 22 about this matter.
There are a bunch of anti-abortion groups out there spreading misinformation about proposed legislation to overhaul NY State abortion laws. Among the groups opposing the Reproductive Health Act are the NY State Catholic Conference, Democrats for Life of New York, New Yorkers for Parental Rights, and the Women's Health Collaborative.
The New York Civil Liberties Union, which supports the legislation, has made a video to counteract some of the junk that these groups have been circulating. Watch:
