The Alice Kryzan File
I've been reading up on Alice Kryzan. She's the gal who wants to run on the Democratic ticket in November against Tom Reynolds to represent the 26th Congressional District. Jon Powers and Jack Davis also want that privilege Here's what I found out about Alice:
Ms. Kryzan:
* is a graduate of the University of Chicago Law School.
* was the first female partner at Phillips Lytle, once the Buffalo area's largest law firm.
* served as Board President of Planned Parenthood of Western New York.
* was on the Steering Committee of the Women's TAP Fund, a group that supports pro-choice women candidates for state and local office.
* is on the board of the Western New York Women's Fund, whose mission is "to invest in solutions and needs of special significance to
women and girls in Western New York."
currently serves on the Advisory Board of a collaborative project of the United Way and the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo that helps women and girls achieve economic self-sufficiency.
* has worked for 30 years as an environmental attorney, where, according to her campaign literature, she represented "businesses, towns and everyday people."
* represented the Town of Clarence in its fight against the expansion of a hazardous waste transfer facility in the community.
* has been an advocate for New York State parks.
* is married to Robert Berger, a law professor at the University of Buffalo and has one son, Sam, who is currently a law student.
* vows to bring alternative energy "green-collar" jobs to the region.
* promises to work to end the Iraq War and establish universal health care.
Sure sounds better than Tom Reynolds to me.
